The Canadian Mental Health Association, Prince Albert Branch is the grateful recipient of a very generous donation in memory of Manuel Mendonca (November 26, 1956 – October 30, 2015).
Manuel was a fine example that mental illness can be managed. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 14. He and his doctor forged a game plan that worked out well for Manuel. Though he had his share of struggles (as all of us do), he had fun also and he was able to enjoy his life.
The Nest at CMHA Prince Albert Branch was a meeting place that helped Manuel during his time of need and his family felt their donation in his memory would be one way to help “pay it forward”.
CMHA Prince Albert Branch works hard to create a safe, secure, happy place for people to meet with their peers, enjoy a nutritious meal in the lunch program, work in the vocational program or to simply “hang out”. Donations such as this help the branch to continue building programs and services for people living with mental illness and to promote mental wellness in the community.
The generous support received from our community is very much appreciated.
